If you’re planning to fly during the holidays, the Transportation Security Administration has some tips to help make traveling easier and quicker.
The TSA is expecting an uptick in travel at Lehigh Valley International Airport ahead of Christmas and the end of the year.
So they say it’s important to be patient and plan ahead.
One big thing to keep in mind is making sure everything you have in your carry-on bag can be brought on to a flight.
The TSA says having prohibited items in carry-on bags is the most common thing that slows down travelers at checkpoints.
“It’s important to pack smart. To do so, start with an empty bag. Often items bags are used in our daily lives and we forget what we put in those bags day to day, so it’s very important that before we travel to airport, we do start with an empty bag,” said Michael Kichline, TSA Assistant Federal Security Director, LVIA.
The TSA also recommends getting to the airport at least two hours early for a domestic flight and three hours early for international flights.
They also suggest packing gifts in gift bags or boxes instead of wrapping them.
