Thomas Edward Reecer, 65, of Elkhart passed away on Monday, Aug. 2, 2021, after an extended illness.
He was born on Oct. 3, 1955, in Warsaw, Indiana, to Harold Reecer and Mary (Grabner) Reecer. His family moved to Elkhart when he was a child.
He is survived by children, Daniel (Abigail) Reecer and Sarah (Matthew) Reecer-Gawalek; step-children, Rachel Stewart and Rita (Keith) Kurtz; grandchildren, Adelyn, Mary, Dreama, Drake, Megan, Rainie, Mackenzie, Maddox, Mikayla; siblings, Deborah (Phillip) Keller, Steven Reecer, Dale (Valerie) Reecer, Doug Reecer, and Brian (Lynette) Reecer; his former wife and lifelong friend Stephanie Reecer; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents.
Tom retired from Yoder Oil after 30 years of service. Driving was a job he enjoyed; prior to working for Yoder, he was able to see many parts of the country delivering RVs for Sportscoach Industries. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, playing chess and going to auctions for the thrill of finding that one special, valuable item.
Everyone will miss his quick wit and his unique sense of humor. Tom was definitely one of a kind and you couldn’t help but love him. He had the kindest of souls and would do anything for his family.
In lieu of a funeral, a private memorial gathering will be held for the family. Memorial contributions may be directed toward the family to help cover expenses; email Reecer.memorial@gmail.com for more information on how to contribute.
