The annual Fry Magazine Awards honour the best of fish and chips across the United Kingdom.
This year however, the magazine has not honoured a single one of Bedfordshire’s famous chippies in a snub we would like to correct.
Their top 50 best fish and chip shops include ones from Staffordshire to South Yorkshire, from Monmouthshire to Milton Keynes.

While the awards did honour some fantastic fisheries, sadly none in Bedfordshire won an award.

We thought we would correct this by writing some of Bedfordshire’s greatest chip shops in Bedfordshire which should have been included.
Mr Chips 29 in Luton has received fantastic reviews and is rated five stars on Tripadvisor.
Reviewers have described their haddock as “mouth watering” and another reviewer said that while it was their first time eating fish and chips it would not be their last.
Harrowden Fisheries in Bedford has a great reputation for offering incredible fish and chips.
The chip shop on Harrowden Lane has a five star rating on TripAdvisor and has been hailed as the best fish and chips in Bedford.
It’s been called by reviewers “proper fish and chips” and the staff have been praised for being kind and helpful.

Another favourite of Bedfordshire residents is Andrews Fish bar in Luton which also has great reviews receiving many five star ratings.
One reviewer said it was the “best value for money chippy in Luton”.
Arlesey Fish & Chips has been ranked 4.5 stars on Tripadvisor based on several reviews.
A five-star review said: “Fantastic haddock and chips as always. The owners and staff are lovely. Very friendly service and always a smile (even from behind the masks) Highly recommended.”
