Memorial Day weekend has come and gone, it brought huge profits for tourist destinations this year. One restaurant on South Padre Island, Texas tells us they were hopping.
South Padre Island is a great place to spend a Memorial Day weekend. Many have thought that thought over the years. But, of course, last year was different — it was locked down.
“Last year, I don’t think we were open, I think it was what we were open but just curbside only,” says Kim Judd, a South Padre Island waitress.
But now things are coming back. According to this waitress, a LOT of people came back for the holiday weekend.
“It was packed, packed! Yes, every room on the Island was, couldn’t no rooms to be found. It was packed very, very busy,” Judd explains. She adds her restaurant was also packed.
Judd tells us that, even though it was shoulder to shoulder in her restaurant, the era of mask-wearing seemed to be dwindling away.
“Some were, some weren’t. Some of the customers come in with masks and then they take them off at the table. But probably not very many,” she notes.
We asked Judd if she made a lot of money herself over the Memorial Day weekend. She responded by saying, “it was a good weekend.”
