DENTON – North Texas softball will host No. 1 Oklahoma Wednesday, April 20 at 6:30 PM CT at Lovelace Stadium. The Mean Green (25-10, 13-5) will play the Sooners for the first time since the 2020 season when they split the double-header and earned their first win against Oklahoma (38-1, 8-1) in program history.
HISTORY AGAINST OPPONENT
UNT has a 1-29 record against Oklahoma all-time. The last time these two programs faced off was in the 2020 season in Norman, Oklahoma when North Texas split the double-header against fifth-ranked Sooners.
In game one of the double header, Oklahoma took an early lead on an error followed by a single to plate two runs.
UNT responded in the second inning when Camille Grahmann knocked in a run on an RBI single to cut the deficit in half before Hanna Rebar homered to center field to take a 3-2 lead.
Oklahoma tied the game in the fourth inning before Kenzie Young brought home the game-winning run in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly to left field.
The Mean Green won 4-3 to start the day and gave North Texas its first win over a top-5 opponent on the road in intercollegiate athletics history.
In game two, UNT jumped out to an early 4-0 lead behind a trio of home runs by Saleen Donohoe, Hanna Rebar, and Kourtney Williams in the top of the first inning. Oklahoma then exploded for 13 runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings before winning the game 15-8.
UNT’s TOP PERFORMERS
Sophomore infielder Kailey Gamble won Conference USA Player of the Week after hitting a home run in each of the three games against Louisiana Tech. Gamble has a 10-game hitting streak and leads the team in home runs (13) for the season. She has a .356 batting average, with 23 runs, 36 hits, four doubles, and 40 RBI on the season.
Redshirt sophomore Molly Rainey leads the team with 10 doubles on the season. She added another home run to her season total (6) against Louisiana Tech. Rainey has a .309 batting average along with 19 RBI and 58 total bases this season.
Freshman RHP Skylar Savage (10-4) leads the Mean Green pitching staff in ERA (2.50), complete games (8) and saves (4). Savage pitched two more complete games against Louisiana Tech and added 11 more strikeouts in two appearances.

North Texas will travel to Lawrence, Kansas to play the Jayhawks April 22-23 at Arrocha Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm CT on Friday. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
