Since there are no NCAA basketball games today, it’s a great chance to look ahead and see what could happen with the rest of the NCAA Tournament. There are just 16 teams remaining, and that should lead to some terrific games.
There have been some major upsets so far during this NCAA Tournament, but there are still some great NCAA basketball teams that are left standing. It’s no longer about the bracket anymore, but trying to have the best possible matchup in the championship is now the goal.
Here are five of the dream matchups that college basketball fans would love to see in the March Madness finals.
Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Houston Cougars
When the March Madness bracket was officially revealed, the Alabama Crimson Tide and Houston Cougars were the top two teams. While two other number 1 seeds have been eliminated, Alabama and Houston have been able to hang in there.
Fans always want to see the two best teams in the country battling it out, and that would be the case if Alabama and Houston make it to the championship game. This would also be a major contrast of styles, as Houston loves to defend, and Alabama can’t be stopped.
There would be some great college basketball players on the floor in this game, and it would lead to a terrific battle.
Michigan State Spartans vs. Gonzaga Bulldogs
The Michigan State Spartans and Gonzaga Bulldogs are two teams that have been featured in many March Madness predictions over the past few decades. Michigan State hasn’t won a title in over 20 years, and Gonzaga is still looking for that elusive title.
Gonzaga coach Mark Few and Michigan State coach Tom Izzo are both great friends as well, and a meeting in the March Madness finals would make for a great story. These are two programs that meet up on the NCAAB schedule occasionally, but this meeting for a title would be that much more special.
The NCAAB odds for this matchup to take place is actually pretty good, and it’s only going to take three more wins from each team.
UCLA Bruins vs. Kansas State Wildcats
The college basketball standings have had both UCLA Bruins and Kansas State Wildcats in the top ten for much of the year, and both teams are loaded with talent. UCLA is a team that was expected to compete for a title, while Kansas State has been a massive surprise.
The Bruins have been in this position before, and they look like they are ready to go on another deep run. Kansas State is riding a wave of momentum, and that makes them extremely dangerous for opponents.
The Bruins and Wildcats both have a ton of elite talent, and that would make this a great NCAA championship game matchup.
Creighton Bluejays vs. Texas Longhorns
The Creighton Bluejays and Texas Longhorns were both popular March Madness picks this season, and both teams have been able to win the first two games. If you are a fan of offense, then this is a matchup that you would love to see in the title game.
Creighton is loaded with great shooters, and they can score on anyone. Texas has a number of guards that can get to the hoop, and they are not an easy team to stop. Both Creighton and Texas have some work to do if they are going to reach the title game, but it’s not a possibility.
Tennessee Volunteers vs. UConn Huskies
Another dream matchup in the March Madness finals would be the Tennessee Volunteers taking on the UConn Huskies. Both of these teams have had a tough time with the college basketball injury report this season, as they have both been missing key pieces.
Tennessee and UConn were two of the top teams in the preseason poll, and they were popular NCAAB picks before the season. Both teams have really started playing well again, and they could be on a path to meeting up for a title.
