BOZEMAN, Montana – With little time to enjoy the team’s home win over Southern Utah on Saturday, Montana State makes a quick trip to Portland for a Monday night game at Portland State. Tipoff is set for 7 pm MT.
In the team’s eighth game in the last 18 days, the fourth of those on the road, MSU faces a Vikings team seeking its first Big Sky win of the season, but one which gave the Cats a fight one month ago in Bozeman. MSU won that one 71-56 but Jada Lewis scored 18 points and Savannah Dhaliwal grabbed 10 boards for PSU.
Darian White scored 10 points with seven assists, four rebounds and a steal in that game, and the junior continues to pace the Bobcats. She leads the team with 15.7 points a game, 115 assists and 68 steals, and is second with 5.1 rebounds a game. Kola Bad Bear’s 10 points led the Bobcats against PSU last month.
Montana State has won five games in its jam-packed February schedule. Those include a 73-68 home victory over Idaho State, a 74-71 win against Weber State, and the 65-47 triumph over Southern Utah two days ago. Those victories avenged earlier losses. The Bobcats dropped a home tilt to Eastern Washington last Thursday, the team’s second February defeat.
MSU closes the season with three straight road games after Monday’s makeup game in Portland. The Cats visit Missoula on Saturday for a showdown against Montana. That game tips off at 7 pm. MSU closes the 2022 regular season with games Sacramento State on Wednesday, March 2, and Northern Colorado on Friday, March 4
In closing the regular season on the road for the third straight campaign – and with four straight road games for the first time since 2009-10 – the team’s next week stands as crucial to its Big Sky title aspirations. MSU’s games at UM, Sac State and SUU each pit the Cats against teams in hot pursuit of Idaho State (13-4, first place) and MSU (12-4, one-half game out of first) in the league standings.
