The Thanksgiving leftovers are all in the fridge, the football stadiums are now empty, and it’s time to prepare for Christmas.
Texans looking to travel this December to experience the magic of the season should look no further than a small village in the center of the Lone Star State that was just ranked one of best places in the U.S. to experience Christmas.
Trips to Discover compiled together the most festive towns in each state, and Wimberley came out on top in Texas.
Called “one of the most charming Christmas towns in Texas” by the travel news website behind the new ranking, this small village is home to only 2,877 people, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, and is famous for its Holiday Trail of Lights.
The holiday trail features thousands of lights spread through an eight-acre walk-through display, including a Yule Log where visitors can roast hot dogs and marshmallows, according to Trips to Discover.
The event is free to visit and runs from Dec. 3 to Dec. 26 this year.
The town’s Winter’s Eve festival is also a highlight the report recommends visitors check out for shopping, holiday music and to meet Santa. This year’s event is on Dec. 10, the city’s official website said.
