Essex is filled with a number of cafes and restaurants – but some of the very best aren’t particularly well-known.

We all know the large chain brands that have proved popular across our towns, cities and villages, but there are also many impressive independent cafes.

And one independent Essex cafe has been rated Essex’s best ‘hidden gem’, according to TripAdvisor.

“If you haven’t visited, you must – you will be well looked after!”

Meanwhile, another reviewer stated that they were “blown away” by the tea room and others expressed that they thought the tea rooms were “excellent”.

The cafe was founded in 2014 and they say that the cafe “optimises the Great British tea room” and they “offer a service like no other in Maldon,” according to their website.

It can be found right in the heart of Maldon High Street.

Other cafes and restaurants that have been ranked as TripAdvisor’s ‘hidden gems’ include Shillingfords in Braintree, Rubino Kitchen in Maldon and the Orange Tree in Wivenhoe.
